If you suddenly hear your dog howl, throwing his head back violently, examine him carefully.

You'll notice a small sore with swollen lips and an engorgement that turns purplish and can quickly become gangrenous.
Vomiting, coma and cyanosis follow. Always keep Institut Pasteur anti-venomous serum in the fridge for subcutaneous injection, as close as possible to the responsible bite, “upstream”.

In an emergency, you can place a tourniquet between the heart and the wound, suck out or aspirate the venom, disinfect with permanganate or bleach, and administer strong coffee.

In any case, the dog should be taken to the vet as soon as possible.
