Stomach torsion

Stomach torsion is an extremely serious and often fatal condition.

It is most often found in large breeds (boxers, German shepherds, Newfoundlanders, Saint Bernards, Pyrenean shepherds, Leonbergers, great danes and molosses).
This condition requires emergency veterinary care. Call at the first sign.
In the hours following a meal, you may experience
anxiety, attempts to vomit, slight bloating.
To avoid this, it's essential to follow a few rules:

  • only feed highly digestible food, adapted to the animal's profile. Given the importance of this choice, don't hesitate to ask your veterinarian for advice.
  • position the food container at chest level.
  • make clean water available all day long (not just after the meal).
  • never let the dog run or play for two hours after feeding.
