The jaundice

The jaundice, also known as icterus, is a yellow discoloration of the mucous membranes.

It can be seen in the whites of the eyes or in the mucous membranes of the mouth.

In dogs, icterus is generally due to massive destruction of red blood cells, which the liver is unable to process. In other cases, the liver is the cause.

The main causes of jaundice are Leptospirosis and Piroplasmosis.

In the event of jaundice, always consult your vet immediately.
