The leptospirosis

The leptospirosis is a serious disease that affects both dogs and humans.

The disease is spread by rats, which infect dogs through their urine.

Two periods of the year are conducive to the development of this disease: spring and autumn. Hunting dogs are particularly at risk.

The disease is characterized by high fever, depression, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and, in some cases, jaundice.

A vaccine is available to protect dogs. This vaccination must be renewed every year.

For particularly exposed animals (e.g. dogs hunting on river banks), it may be advisable to vaccinate every 6 months.
