Poisoning

Many products can cause poisoning.

Rat poison, which the dog can ingest directly (when it finds them on the ground), or through dead or weakened mice, which it can easily capture.

Anti-ant products, which the dog can ingest by licking the can placed in the path of the ants.

Motor antifreeze and barbeque lighters contain ethylene glycol and methaldeide, whose sweet taste is very appealing to dogs.

Some anti-parasite collars can cause poisoning if the dog manages to remove and chew them.

Other products, specially designed to eliminate foxes (strychnine baits), are particularly dangerous if found by the dog.

Be very careful when eliminating pests: always dispose of products in a place where the dog cannot access them. During the treatment period, keep an eye on your dog when it goes out.

In case of suspicion (convulsions, respiratory problems, weakening), seek urgent veterinary advice.
