This breed is also known as |
Hane Inu |
| A local dog from the city of Hane, near Cape Muroto. It is said to be descended from the Kuo dog, which has the same short tail as the Kaifu dog, and was renowned for boar hunting. It was a hunting dog with exceptional abilities, capable of stopping small boars primarily with its bark. The last purebred specimen died at the owner's behest. Improved dogs, commonly called "feathered dogs," differ significantly from the original feathered dogs, as they have been crossed with American Pit Bull Terriers and Siberian Huskies to improve their size and bite. The area around Cape Muroto is a remote region where boar hunting is a livelihood, and the local Hane Inu dogs were thus left there. However, due to aging and depopulation, the number of hunters has decreased, as has the number of Ino-inu dogs. Currently, only a small number of relatively pure local dogs remain, mainly in the city of Shishikui. |
