| The Pekalier is a wonderful pet, combining the gentle, confident temperament of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the loyalty and devotion of the Pekingese. They enjoy the company of adults and can be somewhat intolerant of small, boisterous children. Small and short-limbed, the Pekalier will never be a pocket-sized model. While some find their large chestnut eyes endearing, others are not so complementary. Their soft fur is of medium length and often features a small wave. This characteristic is particularly noticeable on their long ears, which can be puckered or curled. |
History of the Pekalier |
| The Pekalier is a recent arrival on the hybrid scene and is thought to have been developed in the USA around 20-30 years ago. The specific crossbreed dog movement really took off around this time, with breeders eager to explore new breed combinations in search of the most desirable animal. |

Appearance of the Pekalier |
| Pekaliers are rather unusual in appearance, with their domed skull, protruding eyes, shortened muzzle and stubby limbs. Although not classically handsome, they do possess a certain charm. Their round, dark-brown eyes are their main facial feature. Their short muzzle ends in a dark nose, often quite small. Their ears are long and flowing, sitting on the side of the head. Their body is long and close to the ground, supported by fleshy legs. Their tail is of medium length and can curl at the tip. The Pekalier is a small breed, weighing between 4 and 8 kilos and measuring between 15 and 25 centimeters. The Pekalier's coat is of medium length and may be wavy or slightly curly, with longer fur on the ears, tail and feathering on the underside of the limbs. Although coat colors are uniform, most individuals are either cream and white, brown and white or black and white. They can have a variety of attractive markings and may have large colored spots, markings and stripes. |
Temperament of the Pekalier |
