A brief presentation of the French Bull Jack
The French Bull Jack is a gentle, intelligent hybrid dog breed created from two very different but equally wonderful breeds. The French Bulldog and the Jack Russell Terrier are both small in stature but big at heart. One parent is known to be quite lazy while the other will bounce off walls, so the activity level of these dogs is difficult to determine with certainty. Keep your pet active, but don't exercise it much in hot weather. As this specific crossbreed has the potential to be very energetic, it will need a large fenced yard.

History of the French Bull Jack
Not much can be said about the beginnings of the French Bull Jack. It's a new hybrid breed that's only been around for a short time, descended from the French Bulldog and the Jack Russell Terrier.

 

        

A little of the French Bulldog

         
French Bulldogs are most likely closely related to a toy variety of the English Bulldog. These dogs were very popular in England around the 1850s and 1860s, and could often be found as pets for lacemakers in a region of the English Midlands called Nottingham. When the English began to lose interest in the breed, many of these dogs were sent to France, where they were named French Bulldogs. After being crossed with a variety of dog breeds, they made a big impression on wealthy urban women and rural landowners. The founding of the French Bulldog Club of America dates back to 1897, and in 1898 the organization staged a specialized show in New York's Waldorf-Astoria ballroom, greatly increasing the breed's popularity. 1902 was the founding year of the French Bulldog Club of England, and they held their first show in 1903. The breed lost popularity after the First World War and even more so during the Great Depression of the 1930s, but regained it in the 1980s and 1990s.

A little of the Jack Russell Terrier
Devonshire, England, is the birthplace of the Jack Russell Terrier, a breed that has been around since the 1800s. In 1819, a man by the name of John Jack Russell came across a Terrier bitch while wandering around the Oxford University campus. He adopted her and named the dog Trump, thought to be a cross between a black and tan Terrier and a Fox Terrier. Mr. Russell graduated from Oxford and decided to breed Trump to create a Terrier-type dog that was big enough to hunt with his Foxhounds, but still able to fit into fox dens. The mix is thought to include Beagles and Fox Terriers. Once Mr. Russell passed away, the breed of dog he created became very popular among sportsmen, and was sometimes crossed with Dachshunds, Corgis, certain types of toy breeds and other Terriers. These mixtures resulted in variation in size, type and shape, making them ineligible for acceptance into the Kennel Club. Competitive shows began when the Jack Russell Terrier Club of Great Britain was founded in 1974. In the 1980s, this club was finally split into two groups with different aims. One group wanted to create a dog with a more stable size and appearance, while the other gave priority to skills and temperament. The Jack Russell Terrier Club was founded in 1976.

Appearance of the French Bull Jack
All aspects of the French Bull Jack will depend on those of the French Bulldog and Jack Russell Terrier. French Bulldogs are described as small but sturdy dogs. They have very large, almost bat-like ears, a Pug-like nose and a flat head. Their foreheads are rounded and their teeth meet in an underbite. Their eyes are large and round, and the tails are straight or corkscrew-shaped. These dogs have a square outline, as the height from ground to withers is proportional to the length from withers to tail. From another angle, this breed is pear-shaped, as the shoulders are wider than the rear. Jack Russell Terriers are small and athletic, with a slightly tapered skull that lies flat between the ears. Although the stop is not abrupt, it is well defined and their almond-shaped eyes will be dark and not prominent. This breed will have V-shaped ears that fold forward and scissor-jointed teeth. They have a small chest and long forelegs, with strong, muscular hind legs and a high tail.

Temperament of the French Bull Jack
The personalities of specific crossbreeds can also vary according to the traits the individual borrows from each parent. French Bulldogs are excellent pets that are not difficult to control and behave well with unfamiliar people and animals. Although they can be clownish and have a mischievous side, they are attention-hungry dogs who will need their owner's affection at all times. They can develop social anxiety and should not be left alone for long periods. Their occasional stubbornness can make training this breed difficult. The Jack Russell Terrier is a big dog that comes in a small package. It is an extremely intelligent breed that is also mischievous and has a mind of its own. This breed is easy to train and will make good family dogs when raised with children.

Needs and activities of the French Bull Jack
French Bulldogs are low-maintenance when it comes to exercise, and will be content with a few short walks a day, as well as some time to play in the yard. They can do well in homes and yards of all sizes, but shouldn't be exercised much in hot weather. The Jack Russell Terrier is a very energetic breed that should not be kept in an apartment, as it needs plenty of space to move around. If they feel too confined and energetic, they can become destructive. They are adventurous and like to dig, so they need to be supervised when in the yard, even if it's fenced. This breed will need mental as well as physical stimulation.

Maintenance of the French Bull Jack
Given the maintenance levels of the Jack Russell Terrier and the French Bulldog, we can conclude that the French Bull Jack will have a low maintenance level, as both Jack Russell Terriers and French Bulldogs have easy-care coats. Both breeds require weekly brushing, but no shearing or scheduled baths. Jack Russell Terriers should be stripped twice a year. You should check and gently clean your dog's ears once a week, which will help prevent ear infections. You should also trim their nails once a month or every two months. Finally, it's important to brush your dog's teeth as often as possible - at least two to three times a week. This will help keep teeth and gums healthy and prevent tooth decay or infection. Continue with these simple tasks to make sure your dog feels his best.
