This breed is also known as			Tritzveten Palash

The Bulgarian Tricolour Hound belongs to the group of hounds of Asian origin that have been bred in the Balkan Peninsula since antiquity. This breed is considered one of the rarest in existence. Since the studies on the breed's population conducted by Gaitandjievin (1968), no further research has been carried out regarding its morphological characteristics. With a view to standardizing the breed and guiding future selection and breeding efforts, it is essential to establish a contemporary morphological description and record the physical parameters of currently existing purebred specimens. Measurements of key morphological traits were taken from 17 purebred males. The morphological characteristics of the Bulgarian Tricolour Hound place it among the medium-sized "Oriental beagles".

The height at the withers for males is 51.29 cm (with a tolerance of ± 3.82 cm); the diagonal body length is 55.64 cm (with a tolerance of ± 1.99 cm). The format index is 111.96. The chest circumference is 62.05 cm (with a tolerance of ± 0.70 cm).
