My father is no longer here, but I'd still like to thank him for this!

On the hill overlooking the Seine there was a little garden

This little garden was full of birds and flowers...
Also all kinds of snails with slow races...
At the bottom of the garden several hutches and their rabbits with hopping bunnies in the back of cozy nests

And then right next door was the henhouse

Every morning I loved to collect the eggs freshly laid in the straw nest...
Each time a hen quite different from the others arrived near me it was Cocote la Logorne

A very pretty chick all white feathers and you should have seen how she understood me and followed me everywhere!

She'd come into my arms and play with me!
And that was happiness from the age of six...

Coming home from school the smell of chicken in the pot in the kitchen!

You can guess the rest...
My father had killed her without asking me
And I swear that Cocote I didn't eat her!
