A brief presentation of the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo

The small Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo is a dog of hybrid design derived from the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka and the Dwarf or Miniature Poodle. This dog makes an excellent family pet, but because it's so small, it can easily injure itself, so you need to watch it carefully around children. The Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo is affectionate and loyal, but never aggressive, and for this reason does not make a good watchdog. However, they will alert you to the presence of strangers and threats with their powerful bark. They've been bred to be lapdogs; they love attention and cuddles, but they also need daily exercise to stay healthy.

History of the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo

The Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo is a rare designer dog that hasn't been around for very long. So you need to look at the history of the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka and the Poodle to determine the breed's origins.

A little of the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka is a rare breed named after the country where it originated in the 1700s. This little bundle of fur was bred from the French Bolognese, Pekingese, Shih Tzu, Bichon frise and Toy Poodle to become a pet. In fact, the name Bolonka means companion dog. The breed began to become popular in other countries in 1978, but it wasn't accepted into the American Kennel Club's foundation stock service until 2015. This is the first step towards becoming a registered breed.

A little of the Poodle

The Poodle is one of the oldest dog breeds, originating in Germany but perfected in France. There are three types: Standard, Miniature and Toy. The Toy is the smallest, weighing just 4.5 kilos, the Miniature can reach around 7 kilos and the Standard Poodle weighs between 20.5 and 29.5 kilos. They were bred as hunting dogs and are thought to be related to German, Portuguese, French, Hungarian and Russian Water Dogs, as well as the North African Barbet. Other experts believe the Poodle is a descendant of the Asian herding dog that traveled with the German Gothic and Ostrogoth tribes. Another group claims that the breed was found on Roman artifacts from first-century Egyptian tombs. Small sizes were introduced in the 15th century by mating smaller Poodles to impress middle-class Parisians. They were typically used for hunting ducks and truffles, and also made wonderful family pets. The American Kennel Club registered the breed in 1887 and it is the 7th most popular breed in America.

Appearance of the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo

The Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo is a small dog with lots of fur in a variety of colors such as apricot, white, liver, chocolate, gold, silver, sable, piebald, brindle, spotted and peppery. Their double coat is thick and wavy, sometimes even curly. They have pendulous furry ears, a pointed muzzle with a black or brown nose, a round head, small round eyes that can be amber or brown, and an alert expression. This breed generally doesn't exceed 30 centimeters in height and weighs less than 7 kilos. Its body is square and its furry tail rises and curls slightly over its straight back.

Temperament of the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo

Your Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo is a lap dog who likes to sleep on your lap and in your bed with you at night. In fact, he tends to want to be constantly close to you and doesn't like to be left alone. So make sure you spend plenty of time with him when you're at home. This is an intelligent breed that can learn quickly and, for this reason, its training is generally quite easy, but some owners have claimed that these dogs are difficult to house-train. In fact, many owners end up regularly using puppy pads for their dogs, but with the right training, your dog should be able to learn to do the right thing. This hybrid gets on well with other animals and humans, but it needs to be given plenty of opportunity to interact with others, as some dogs can become snarling if socialization is neglected.

Needs and activities of the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo

The Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo is a lapdog, but it also has Poodle genes, which means it needs to run around and get plenty of exercise every day. In fact, you should offer him at least 45 minutes to an hour of vigorous activity, such as playing ball, going for walks and playing with other dogs at the dog park. This feisty hybrid will even enjoy swimming and hiking. Since your dog is so small, you can give him plenty of exercise indoors if the weather's bad, but he still needs to get out at least a few times a day. Dogs that don't get enough exercise risk putting on weight, becoming depressed or bored.

Maintenance of the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo

Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo dogs need daily brushing to prevent excessive matting and keep their coats healthy. With such a thick, silky coat, the Tsvetnaya Blonka-Poo tends to tangle easily and should be carefully groomed with a high-quality metal comb, a stiff bristle brush and a detangling tool. You should also bathe him once or twice a month with a shampoo and detangling conditioner to keep his coat manageable. On this occasion, you should clean his ears and check for redness or wax build-up. Your dog's toenails should also be trimmed regularly to prevent splitting and cracking. Teeth and gums are more likely to stay in good condition if brushed three or four times a week.
