The Chihuahua is a small, lively, and energetic dog originating from Mexico, renowned for being the perfect handbag companion. But have you ever heard of the hairless Chihuahua? Their skin requires special care, including protection from the sun and cold, as well as moisturizing after bathing. Their temperament is the same as that of coated Chihuahuas: loyal, lively, and sometimes prone to separation anxiety and barking, they benefit from early socialization.

The Chihuahua's ancestors date back approximately a thousand years to the ancient Toltec civilization of Mexico. It is believed that the Aztecs perfected the breed to create the small dog we know today. The Hairless Chihuahua is a miniature breed that weighs no more than 3 kg and is hairless due to a genetic mutation. Otherwise, it resembles a classic Chihuahua, with its small paws, large, erect ears, and round head. Its hairless coat is the same color as its skin, pink or brown. It may have a few scattered hairs on certain parts of its head, such as its chin or ears.

Hairless Chihuahuas are bursting with personality despite their small size and have the temperament of a big dog in a small body! They love attention and want to spend as much time as possible with their owners. While sometimes noisy, they are very loyal and protective of their family, making them good watchdogs. They are aloof with strangers and may growl at unfamiliar people or young children. These dogs thrive best in families with older children. They are small, fragile dogs, easily injured by young children, and can bite if handled roughly. Nevertheless, they are playful and will delight children, provided they are taught to respect all dogs. They are also intelligent, affectionate, and cuddly little dogs, but can also be territorial and stubborn.
