| The Smooth Foxie Doxie is a small hybrid that is a mix of the Fox Terrier Smooth and the Dachshund. It generally measures less than 38 centimeters and weighs around 9 kilos as an adult. This breed makes a superb pet in a home without young children. It tends to be snippy with youngsters and can chase small pets such as guinea pigs and rabbits. However, the Smooth Foxie Doxie learns quickly and can be easy to train if you're firm and consistent. They are generally healthy dogs that can live to 14 years or more. |

| The Fox Terrier Smooth was also bred to hunt vermin and bring small game out of its lair. This breed was developed in England in the 1800s from the smooth-coated Beagle, Greyhound, Bull Terrier and Black and Tan Terrier. They were among the first to enter dog shows as a sporting breed, and the American Fox Terrier Club was founded in 1885, the same year the breed was officially noticed by the American Kennel Club. | The Dachshund is a German breed that originated in the 1500s from Spaniels, Terriers, French Bassets, Pinschers and Braques. They were specifically bred to hunt and flush out badgers and other vermin. In the early 19th century, the Dachshund proved to be such a friendly and lovable dog that it began to be popular as a pet rather than a hunting dog. In fact, they were so popular that Queen Victoria's court kept a number of them as pets. There are several types of Dachshund, including the Wirehaired Dachshund, the Longhaired Dachshund and the Original Dachshund. There is also a miniature version of each. However, the one used in breeding the Smooth Foxie Doxie is the original with the smooth, short coat. The American Kennel Club recognized the Dachshund in 1885, and it is now the 13th most common dog breed in the United States. |

| The Smooth Foxie Doxie has a long body, short legs, an elongated head and a large muzzle. Its nose is either brown, isabella or black, and its eyes can be hazel, blue or brown. Its ears are floppy and hanging, and its expression is curious. Its short, straight coat is hard, fine and can be white, chocolate, tan, orange, beige, black, silver, blue or isabella, and may have markings such as piebald, brindle, sable, merle, spotted, mottled or speckled.
