A brief presentation of the American Boston Bull Terrier
The American Boston Bull Terrier is a new type of dog that was created 10 to 20 years ago by crossing the American Pit Bull Terrier and the Boston Terrier. It will have a similar appearance and temperament to both its parents, and will therefore be intelligent but stubborn. They are excellent with children and are also excellent watchdogs. They present several potential health risks and can sometimes be difficult to train, as they are stubborn. Like most dogs, this breed will need good socialization, training and a demonstration of authority as a puppy. They have a moderate activity level and need regular exercise.

History of the American Boston Bull Terrier
As these dogs are a modern breed, appearing only 10 to 20 years ago, there isn't much documentation on how the breed came to be.

 

        

A little of the American Pit Bull Terrier

         
Originally, the American Pit Bull Terrier was bred for bullfighting, pitfalls and other spectator sports. However, when it became popular in other parts of the world, this dog was more often used as a farm dog accompanying owners on hunting trips, or as a guard dog and pet. Despite their initial use in blood sports, these dogs are gentle and courageous. Today, there's another type of dog besides the American Pit Bull Terrier. The American Staffordshire Terrier is a smaller version of this breed and is usually the type seen at shows.

A little of the Boston Terrier
The other breed used to create the American Boston Bull Terrier is the Boston Terrier. This breed appeared in the late 1800s and was very popular in the United States. In fact, it was one of the first dog breeds created in America to be recognized by the American Kennel Club. Until the 1960s, the Boston Terrier was proudly among the ten most popular breeds in the United States, and is also the official dog of Massachusetts. They are intelligent but can be stubborn, qualities that are generally passed on to the American Boston Bull Terrier.

Appearance of the American Boston Bull Terrier
This hybrid breed essentially resembles a larger version of the Boston Terrier. The tails of this breed are usually cropped, but can also be left long and straight. These dogs have compact, muscular bodies and straight, pointed ears. The American Boston Bull Terrier appears to be a blend of the physical characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier and the Boston Terrier. The American Pit Bull Terrier has a solid, muscular constitution. Its head is large but well-proportioned and wedge-shaped, with a slightly wrinkled forehead. They can be found in almost any color, and their eyes can be any shade except blue. Their ears are either semi-pricked or rose-shaped, and their tails are tapered. The second breed of dog that makes up the American Boston Bull Terrier is the Boston Terrier. These small dogs have protruding eyes and a broad head. Their face resembles that of a Boxer, as it is square-shaped and their muzzle is short. They have small, erect ears and low-set, tapered tails. Expect your designer dog to have an appearance somewhere between these two breeds.

Temperament of the American Boston Bull Terrier
While Boston Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers are almost complete opposites in terms of physical characteristics and temperament, they do have some things in common. For example, both breeds are very loyal and highly intelligent. Like the Boston Terrier, the Boston Bull Terrier is known for being an easy-going companion, able to adapt to most environments. And like the American Pitbull, the Boston Bull Terrier is an excellent watchdog, as it tends to protect its home and family. The American Boston Bull Terrier is less arrogant than the Pitbull Terrier. These dogs are generally affectionate towards their owners. They love to play and are very friendly with children. As for their relationship with other pets, they generally remain calm and friendly with them. Because of the stubbornness they inherited from Boston Terriers, they can be quite difficult to manage. So you need to remain a consistent trainer who deals well with these problems.

Needs and activities of the American Boston Bull Terrier
These dogs are known to be excellent with children, as they are gentle and calm with them. They can also get along well with other dogs if properly socialized. For best results with other animals, they should be raised together from an early age. The American Boston Bull Terrier is an excellent watchdog and, in most cases, a pleasure to train. However, they can sometimes have a stubborn streak that can cause complications. They are alert and make wonderful pets who will be affectionate and devoted. This breed is cautious and, although you need to show dominance and prove your authority as pack leader, you must do so firmly but kindly. They are sensitive and will enjoy pleasing their master as long as they feel loved in return.

Maintenance of the American Boston Bull Terrier
To keep these dogs happy and out of trouble, make sure they get a daily dose of exercise. As long as they get enough exercise throughout the day, these dogs can adapt to many environments, including apartment living. They will enjoy many dog sports and do well in them. For this particular breed, the coat should be brushed once or twice a week. Brushing teeth every day, if possible, is the best scenario, but once or twice a week is sufficient. Your dog's nails should be trimmed if necessary, which can vary depending on how worn they are. Once or twice a month is usually enough. Wipe his ears once a week. Although these dogs can be stubborn, they should be fairly easy to train. But they can be sensitive, so you need to be careful about the tone you use to communicate with them. Because of this personality trait, an owner with previous experience will probably be the best choice for this type of dog.
