A brief presentation of the Border Collie Britt
Independent, very enduring and responsive, the Border Collie Britt is a hybrid breed originating from the Border Collie and the Epagneul Breton. Its exact history is not well documented, and the hybrid breed is little known. The Border Collie Britt is a relatively healthy breed with energy to burn. It's a medium-sized breed with high energy levels. This exuberant canine breed prefers to be engaged in intense play at all times. Being social is just one of this breed's positive traits. Its purpose is to guard against intruders and provide companionship for families. The care of this breed is simple. Daily brushing and exercise will result in a happy Border Collie Britt.

History of the Border Collie Britt
The history of the Border Collie Britt is vague and poorly documented. It is suspected that the Border Collie Britt was originally created to eliminate certain medical conditions and provide a healthier hybrid. The breed was developed from the Border Collie and the Epagneul Breton. It's only natural that the Border Collie and Brittany should have been crossed, as they are both considered nervous and energetic. Both breeds are efficient in agility and terrain.

Dogs similar to the Border Collie have existed in the British Isles for centuries. They were considered to be light, active and self-sufficient dogs that were successful in breeding. The Border Collie was developed to be more intelligent and to maintain its high working stamina. In 1906, the first Border Collie standard was published. The modern Border Collie can be traced back to Wiston Cap, a popular stallion of the 1960s. In 1995, the American Kennel Club added the Border Collie to its list.

A little of the Brittany Spaniel
Meanwhile, the Brittany Spaniel dates back to the 17th century. In the mid-1800s, the first tailless Epagneul Breton was bred in Pontou, a small town in the Brittany region. In the 1900s, the Epagneul Breton was further developed in France with dogs on vacation. When the Brittany Spaniel was crossed with another breed, its talent for sport increased. The Brittany Spaniel is considered a faster breed when on the run. In 1931, the Brittany Spaniel was imported to the United States. In 1934, the Epagneul Breton was officially recognized by the AKC.

Appearance of the Border Collie Britt
The Border Collie Britt's features can vary according to the parent breed it adopts. It resembles both the Border Collie and the Epagneul Breton in many ways. Its coat varies between brown, black and red with white. The breed is most likely to take on a hard, rough, short and dense coat that is water repellent. This avid canine breed has oval eyes with different eye colors that can vary from blue to brown. The ears can be erect or droopy, depending on the dog. The tail can be a regular-sized tail or contain no tail at all. Its construction is athletic and graceful. Nose color can vary from red to black.

Temperament of the Border Collie Britt
The Border Collie Britt is a very energetic breed, always eager to please its family. It loves to be around people, likes to be the center of attention and is friendly, welcoming and loving. This affectionate dog will run to you at every recall as if he hadn't seen you in a long time. This breed is very accepting of strangers. While the Border Collie is generally protected from strangers, the Brittany Spaniel of this breed will welcome strangers with open arms. The Border Collie Britt is very receptive to children, other dogs and other animals. However, it is recommended that you provide your dog with early training and socialization, to ensure that there are no negative experiences. This breed is relatively easy to train, is always eager to learn new techniques and benefits from positive reinforcement. If you provide treats, your dog will remain a happy camper.

Needs and activities of the Border Collie Britt
The Border Collie Britt has very high energy levels due to the Epagneul Breton and Border Collie genes. It's important to be able to provide this breed with the exercise it needs to stay in shape and maintain its weight. 80 minutes a day is suggested as a minimum, and this exuberant canine breed will make an excellent jogging partner, avid hiker and enthusiastic agile participant. Ideally, a large fenced yard is preferable so that this hybrid can have plenty of time outdoors. Supervision is always best, however, as dogs left unattended can unintentionally get into trouble of some kind. The Border Collie Britt likes all types of weather, although a temperate climate is best.

Maintenance of the Border Collie Britt
Your Border Collie Britt is not considered a hypoallergenic dog and will shed moderately like many other dogs. Drooling is not a concern for this breed. No significant odor is associated with the Border Collie Britt. Keeping the coat beautiful can be done with daily brushing. Mats and tangles can be avoided with the pin brush or smooth brush. As this hybrid is very active, check the fur for burrs and pieces of leaf or wood that may become tangled. Pads should be checked daily, just to make sure they're in good health, as dryness or cracks can occur. The Border Collie Britt's teeth should be brushed daily and nails trimmed every two weeks. If your hybrid loves water, make sure its ears are dry after every swim.
