| A cross between a Wire Fox Terrier and a Poodle, the Wire-Poo is a medium-sized dog whose prominent natural beard, friendly personality and energetic temperament have made it stand out despite its status as a newcomer to the canine kingdom. The Wire-Poo is a designer dog breed that was created with the express aim of combining the best traits of the Wire Fox Terrier and the Poodle in one dog. All in all, the Wire-Poo, also known as the Wire Doodle or Foxypoo, has certainly used these characteristics to the full; Wire-Poos are known to be as friendly and affectionate as their Wire Fox Terrier parents while showing amazing amounts of intelligence just as their Poodle parents are known to do. Wire-Poos have everything it takes to be great family dogs, with an affectionate spirit and tons of energy to burn. |
History of the Wire-Poo |
| The trend toward breeding designer dogs is fairly recent, in the grand scheme of things, as many dogs that are designated as designer hybrids have only been around for a few decades. Initially, this can make learning Wire-Poos, which are part of these designer breeds, quite difficult. However, a great deal of information can be divulged by discovering the Wire-Poo's ancestors and using their backgrounds to fill in the gaps. All this is to say that the Wire-Poo's impressive pedigree has set exceptionally high standards for this new design dog to meet. | As for the Poodle's contribution to the Wire-Poo, just look at the Wire-Poo's ability to learn new tricks with relative ease. Wire-Poos are able to learn to sit, stay seated and perform certain acrobatics in a short space of time, thanks to the intelligence this breed inherited from its Poodle parent. While Poodles have demonstrated many feats throughout their long existence, the Wire-Poo has done the same in a shorter time. |

| Wire-Poos have a lean, athletic body that complements their energetic, frenetic lifestyle, although their musculature is buried deep beneath a rich, wavy coat. They may resemble one parent more than the other, but tend to have folded ears and a thin beard as a constant physical trait. Wire-Poos can have a variety of colors from black to white, brown to cream, or a combination of these hues, but the brown eyes and black nose persist in all variations of this breed. Wire-Poos are medium-sized dogs with very expressive faces and disarming appearances overall, which helps them work their magic when they set out to charm other dogs and humans. |

| The Wire-Poo is a fairly energetic and active hybrid dog breed, so be sure to plan a full exercise program for this dog. Descended from a line of hunting dogs, the Wire-Poo retains some of its parents' prey drive, so be sure to keep an eye out when taking your dog for a walk. A playtime of 45 minutes to an hour should be enough for the Wire-Poo, but try to vary the activities, as the high intelligence of these dogs will probably lead them to tire of too repetitive a routine. |

| For potential owners of dogs who are generally unable to interact with most breeds, the Wire-Poo may be the dog for you. Since both its parents have hypoallergenic qualities, the Wire-Poo is a friend for people whose allergies to canines have created something of a barrier in the past. On the other hand, the Wire-Poo's luxuriant coat will need proper care to keep this hybrid in good health. Wire-Poos don't shed wildly, but they do need to be plucked from time to time, every two or three months, as part of optimal grooming. Taking care of a dog's nails is always risky if the person doing it is unprepared and not particularly familiar with canine anatomy. In this case, it's best to call in a professional groomer to trim the Wire-Poo's nails, leaving unsure owners enough time to learn how to do it themselves with quality nail clippers. |
